The 24 Kingdoms of the Urhobo Nation has declared that Olorogun (Dr.) Moses Oghenerume Taiga is the only President General of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide, and the Urhobo Nation only mouthpiece, even as they urged him to take over all UPU structures.
Similarly, the UPU has called on every Urhobo person, within and outside Nigeria, to endeavour to acquire the Urhobo National Identity card.
Speaking during the maiden visit of Olorogun Moses Taiga to the Forum of Presidents General (PGs) of Urhobo Kingdoms on Wednesday October 18 at Uvwie Town Hall, PTI Road, Effurun, Chairman of Urhobo Presidents General and renowned Surgeon, Olorogun (Dr.) Peter Obakponovwe, in reiterating the unflinching support of the body for the UPU helmsman, declared that "the UPU PG is Urhobo's only mouthpiece and father figure."
He further hailed Taiga as having all it takes and the pedigree to take Urhobo Nation to greater heights.
Similarly, in an address read by Secretary General, Olorogun (Sir) Kenneth Iwhewhe, the Presidents General declared that "Consequent on your election victory, your supremacy is not contestable as you are our President General Worldwide.
Hence, it revolves around you to use the PG status is not duplicated nor hijacked.
The forum, while entreating Olorogun Moses Taiga to take over all UPU structures, "and control all UPU bodies in the Country and in Diaspora," also tasked the UPU on some pressing issues affecting the Urhobo Nation, including the Fulani Herdsmen incursion, the Aladja Ogbeljoh land dispute, the Oil Industry, among others.
In his speech, Olorogun Taiga expressed gratitude to the Kingdoms' PGs and the entire Urhobo Nation for his election and continued support, and affirmed his mission to reposition the Urhobo Ethnic nationality.
He said anyone can claim to be the UPU PG on the pages of newspapers, but the Urhobo Nation and the people know who their President-General is, "so I don't bother myself with such claims and antics in the media, but focused and determined to deliver on my mandate."
The Oil magnate, during the event, also rendered an account of his stewardship so far, particularly his five-point agenda, which include the establishment of MukoroMowoe University and microfinance bank for Urhobo women.
Heurged the Presidents General to mobilize their respective kingdoms towards effective
participation in the on-going INEC Voter's Registration Exercise, just as he tasked them to be vigilant and ensure that their communities are not havens for kidnapping and other criminal activities.
The PG also call on the Urhobo Kingdoms' PGs to begin to sensitize Urhobo people on the National Population Census billed to take place in 2018.
Meanwhile, in a brief chat with the media, Olorogun Taiga called on every Urhobo person, within and outside the country that is eligible for the National Identity Card to endeavour to have one by registering with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
