The All Progressive Congress APC, Delta Central Senatorial District, has come with a “Strategic and Unity, Committee” whose task is to unite all APC leaders and members, and the entire Urhobos in order for them to be able to speak with one voice on issues affecting Urhobos as a people.
Just as it was unanimously agreed that the Leadership of Urhobo APC, will visit the new Delta State Independent Electoral Commission DSIEC, at Asaba, to inform them on the need to conduct, free, fair and credible election.
These are some of the resolutions reached at the enlarged meeting of the party, at Ughelli. To kick the ball rolling, Senator Obaisi Ovie Omo Agege, the Senator representing Delta Central, Senatorial District in the Senate, all groups meetings by different pressure groups of APC is right since it enable people to know that the party is everywhere. He added that the party is 70% united with the successful hosting of the Ughelli meeting.
While assuring that his door is open twenty-four hours on issues that affect the peace, unity and development of Urhobo Nation.
He assured that APC will contest the Local Government Election “Effectively and Win. We are not going to allow Okowa write and announce result.
He knows we know how it is done and we are not going to allow him to do it.”
He said he is going to consult with Chief Great Ogboru and Olorogun O’tega Emerhor on the visit to DSIEC, to ensure that they conduct a free fair and credible Local Government Election.
In his opening address Chief Adelabu Bojor the Delta Central APC Chairman expressed happiness over the large the large turnout that attended the occasion and change them to unite so that Urhobos as a people can speak with one voice in order for them to able to remove the common enemy of Urhobos and APC.
He added that it was the unity of Urhobos in those days that made them to be great. He listed the likes of late Olorogun Michael Ibru, a great business man who used his wealth to unite and empower his people politically and economically.
Adding that nothing is wrong if wealthy Urhobos build schools and other infrastructure for their people. As it was done in the past.
He urged them to be determine, stressing that the major aim of APC is to take over the Government of Delta State in 2019.
Chief Cyril Ogodo, State Deputy Chairman of APC, said that Urhobo land is the backbone of the party in Delta State. While urging, Urhobos to support Senator Ovie Omo Agege, he added that a lot of people are happy that Urhobos are not unite.
He advised those who have been living on blackmail within the system to desist it from not to incur the wreath of Urhobo ancestors.
Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, used the opportunity of the occasion to dispelled the rumour making round that APC has zone the governor ship position. He said that APC has not zone the Governorship position.
Rather, a Free and fair primaries shall be conducted and whoever emerge shall be supported without compromising the interest of the party.
He also cautioned against unnecessary agitation within the party on governorship ticket base on ethnicity.
Since according to him he loves his tribe but it is proper to look at a lot options, as to who can win election for the party.
“I’m tire of opposition. We must win the election this time I canassure you as a member of caucus the position is not zone to anywhere. But we are going to conduct free and fair primaries.
We want who can win election for us. But it is only a mad man that keep doing one often
and often without changing tactics,” Chief Frank Kokori, did not hide his feelings he said it will be unfair for Urhobos to be deny the Governorship position.
According to him he said APC is party, where equity reign and it will be proper for Urhobo to have the governor since the state capital is in Asaba.
